STEPHEN BELL BOOTH

"I began playing the piano as a 3-year old. I was fortunate to grow up in a home where there was a piano. I'm a lucky man."

STEPHEN BELL BOOTH

Stephen Bell Booth is one of only eight New Zealand songwriters to have won multiple APRA Silver Scrolls. In 1983 he won for All I Want Is You and in 1989 for Hand It Over. In 1994, his album Undivided was named Best Gospel Album.

Gonna Walk by Stephen Bell Booth

Stephen has recorded three albums in addition to Undivided: Food for the Journey, Shelter and Timeless Music for Meditation. Now a Palmerston North businessman, Stephen has recently recorded a demo of a new song with his old recording buddy, musician Ross McDermott.

Stephen represented New Zealand with Rob Guest at the 1979 Seoul Song Festival in Korea. During his musical career, he played keyboards for, and toured with, artists including America, Barry McGuire and Joe English.

Stephen was born in Wellington and moved to Palmerston North, where he continues to live, in 1994.

"I love walking my dogs along the Manawatu River. It's a beautiful walkway and too few New Zealanders know about this slice of Palmy beauty. Pure inspiration.

There are lots of wonderfully creative individuals here: scientists, farmers, designers, IT nerds, garden designers, sporting greats. It's a wonderful space – small enough to get across town in 10 minutes and big enough to get the space we need to feel part of the cosmos."
